Advantage Player A player who has a legitimate advantage over the house. Typically, the players who succeed in having the upper hand are those who partake in card counting or similar winning techniques and strategies. It is not rare to call a player who has managed to win substantial prizes through special bonuses and offers.
AGCC Stands for Alderney Gambling Control Commission.
All or Nothing All or Nothing is a common expression that you can encounter while playing Keno. It refers to a win in which all selected spots have been drawn or none at all.
Ante Ante is the first bet that you must wager before the round starts. The Ante is commonly found in card games.
Auto Roulette Auto Roulette is a version of Roulette which uses an RNG-powered wheel rather than a dealer-spun wheel.
Banker Banker is a different name for the dealer. It is also one of two hands in Baccarat. Besides Banker, there is a Player (and you can bet on a Tie too).
Bankroll The players’ assets, i.e. the amount of money that the player has at his disposal during the game. Players also call it the balance.
Barred A casino player whose IP address is banned from visiting the casino website.
Beard A casino player who knows but hides the identity of another casino player.
Beef Issues and disputes between the casino and punters is a beef.
Bet A wager.
Betting Limits The limitations that you have in any casino game. Since all games are different, the betting limits vary as well. Betting limits refer to a range between the smallest and the highest wagering amount.
Blind Bet Betting before seeing the cards is called blind betting.
Bonus Additional funds or rounds that the casino gives to the players through special offers and promotions. Some of the most famous types of bonuses are Welcome Bonuses and Free Spins.
Bonus Symbols Bonus symbols are unique icons which activate extra game features in casino games.
Break the Bank Breaking the bank is an expression that describes a massive win
Burn Card The top card in a deck that dealers remove before the new round or after the shuffle. This is standard practice in casinos which wish to limit card counting.
Bust A frequent term in Blackjack. Players go bust when their hand value exceeds 21.
Buy-In Buy-in is the amount of cash that one must pay before receiving Chips to use later at a table. The amount must be paid before joining the table. This is standard practice in most casino games, especially card tables.
Card Counting A controversial Blackjack strategy that entails keeping track of all cards in a round to determine which cards will come next. Nevertheless, card counting is legal, albeit frowned upon in many casinos.
Card Washing A special method for shuffling cards used by dealers.
Cashback A type of bonus cash that players receive from the casino. The funds are a percentage of the players’ previously invested funds, so they are wager-free in most cases.
Cash Out To initiate a withdrawal of your casino funds.
Cashier's The section of the casino site where players go to deposit or initiate withdrawals. The banking section also allows you to switch between currencies and payment services.
Chips Tokens that players use as substitutes for cash at various casino tables. Given they represent money, they have multiple denominations.
Cold Streak Dry spell, or a rather long string of losses at the table.
Comp Points Complimentary points that players receive with each deposit and wager. They can later be exchanged for bonus cash or Free Spins/Chips.
Contribution Percentage of bets that counts towards reaching wagering requirements. The percentage depends on the game type in every online casino.
Croupier French for a casino dealer.
Deal The act of providing cards to the players in a round is dealing.
Dealer The person in charge of the table who does the card dealing is the dealer. Another name for dealers is croupiers.
Deposit The funds that each player wishes to transfer to their casino account. The act of placing a deposit refers to the initiation of a deposit transaction which will transfer the funds from the bank to the casino account. Typically, all players must first deposit funds before they start playing casino games.
Dime Wagers that punters can place in land-based and virtual casino venues as well.
Dime Bet A dime bet is a $1,000 wager in Poker games.

George A casino visitor that is tipping the staff generously.
Grind A strategy according to which players keep placing small bets to get to higher profits.
Hand A collection of cards in the player’s possession during a round in card games
Hard Hand A hand that contains pairs, typically in Blackjack.
High Roller A player with a tendency to place big (or the maximum) bets in games and deposits.
Hit One of the actions in Blackjack. By choosing this option, the player asks the dealer for another card.
Hole Card The card that is face-down on the table.
Hot A player on a winning streak.
House The casino.
House Edge See Edge.
House Rules The rules that the online casino venue has for gameplay and comportment. Every casino has a unique set of house rules.
Inside Bets Roulette bets which involve wagering on any single number between 0 and 36.

Lobby The section of a casino that holds all the games.
Loose A slot game that rewards the players handsomely and often.

Outside Bets Roulette bets which involve betting on numbers outside the grid on the table, usually groups of 12 to 18 numbers at once.
Open The first bet in Poker is the open bet.
Overlay dds that are more in favour of the player rather than the house.
Pass Player’s decision to not participate in the round; thus, forfeiting all cards is a pass.
Pat A hand in Blackjack which totals at least 17 but has not gone bust.
Payline A possible winning combination of icons on slot reels. Paylines and winning ways are the base for winning in slot games.
Payout The winnings from one round.
Paytable The information panel which contains information about payouts, winning combinations/hands, and similar.
Pit Boss A supervisor of the dealers in live and land-based casinos.
Pit Boss the croupier’s supervisor in a land-based or online live casino.

Pokies Australian slang for slot games.
Progressive Jackpot Slots/Games Progressive games which feature a progressive jackpot, i.e. the top prize continually increases.
Push A tie between the players and the dealer is often labelled as a Push. In Push, the invested amount via bets returns to the player in question.
Reload Bonus A Bonus that casinos offer to both new and existing players.
Reel Vertical columns in online slots that showcase icons on a spin.
River The final community card that the dealer uses during a round.
RNG Stands for Random Number Generator, a program that randomly generates game outcomes and ensures results can't be rigged.
Rollover an alternative term for wagering (play-through) requirement.
RTP Short for Return to Player. A theoretical math model which calculates the percentage of money that would return to the player over time from playing one game. All games have theoretical RTP rates.
Scatter A special symbol in slot games that typically activates the Free Spins round.
Shoe The container of all decks in a game.
Shuffle The process of mixing cards by the dealer, usually before a round.
Side bet Additional bets that players have the liberty to choose alongside the primary wager. Typically found in card and table games.
Skin Casino slang for money.
Snake Eyes A roll of two in Craps where both dice have a result of 1.
Split : An action available in Blackjack games. It is only available if a player receives a pair of any kind. The Split allows them to divide the cards and thus create two separate hands.
Stake The sum of money that a player wagered on a round.
Stand An action in Blackjack. If the players do not want to receive additional cards but instead move forward to the end of the round, they choose Stand.
Straight Flush A sequence of 5 cards in the same suit is a valuable Poker hand.
Straight Up Bet A bet on a single number in Roulette.
Street Bet An Inside bet in Roulette which features wagering on three numbers in a sequence.
Surrender One of the bets in certain Blackjack and Roulette games.
Symbols Tiles and icons that appear on the reels in slots. Forming combinations of symbols on the reels using active paylines generates wins.
Table Hold The total profit that has been made at one specific table during one 8-hour shift.
Table Stakes The rule which prohibits players from removing or altering bets already placed in an on-going round.
Tap Out Players who are forced to abandon the game due to losing all funds have to tap out.
Tournament Special events that are similar to competitions in online and land-based casinos. Players compete in tournaments for the chance to win cash or Chips/Spins prizes.
Three of a Kind A Poker hand which includes three cards in a matching rank is Three of a Kind.
Time Cut The commission that the casino receives from the players for allowing them access to the Poker rooms.
Tronc A particular section of the table where players place tips for the dealers in live casinos.
Twenty-One A slang term for the game of Blackjack.
UKGC Short for the UK Gambling Commission.
Unit The smallest amount that a punter can wager in the casino.
Up Card Face-up cards on the table.
Variance Also known as volatility, the variance is essentially the ratio between risk and winning chances. All games have variance. Typically, games can have either low, medium, and high volatility. High volatility games boast the highest payout potential, but they are also very risky to play, meaning dry spells are a common occurrence.
Vigorish See Juice
VIP Players that are members of the VIP or Loyalty programs. They enjoy exclusive perks and bonus offers like limited access to invitation-only tournaments.
Wager Betting is synonymous with wagering.
Wagering Requirement The amount of money that a punter needs to bet on specific games before he gets a chance to withdraw the bonus. Other names for wagering requirements are rollover and playthrough.
