LeoVegas Joins European Gaming and Betting Association

Round Head Icon - December 25, 2024

The LeoVegas Group, one of the biggest and fastest-growing companies among online casino operators, is the latest member of the European Gaming and Betting Association (EGBA.)

EGBA membership affirms LeoVegas’ commitment to responsible gambling, advertising, and the implementation of EU-wide rules whose goal is to raise industry standards.

What is EGBA?

As the name implies, the European Gaming and Betting Association is a trade association representing the leading online gambling operators based in Brussels. It was envisioned as a way for major players in the industry to cooperate and have a voice in relevant discussions, most notably the implementation of EU-wide regulations concerning the iGaming sector.

At the moment, EGBA is widely considered to be at the forefront of promoting a competitive and well-regulated online gambling market in Europe. One of EGBA’s biggest goals is a push for international standards, especially when it comes to gambling regulation and licensing.

EGBA members include companies such as et365, Betsson, Entain, Evoke, Flutter, Kindred Group, Superbet and now LeoVegas.

What This Means for LeoVegas

From our perspective as players, we doubt anything is really going to change. LeoVegas will retain its many licenses and continue to operate as it did. However, this membership is another level of assurance for new players that LeoVegas is committed to establishing and enforcing a new level of responsibility in the gambling business.

To put things in a less “PR” way, it’s yet another form of confirming the validity and transparency of the way LeoVegas does business.

However, there’s a lot more to it “behind the scenes.” The LeoVegas Group will now begin contributing in EGBA’s working groups and to the association’s initiatives. This can have large implications for the industry and how it interacts with players and governments. For example, EGBA recently called for an overhaul of Austria’s gambling regulation, showcasing just how important a group of major companies can be.

Carl Brincat, a LeoVegas Group executive, commented:

As a company committed to safer gambling and technological innovation, we look forward to contributing our expertise to EGBA’s important work. This partnership aligns perfectly with our vision of leading the way towards a sustainable and well-regulated gambling industry in Europe.”
