Game Features

Game features in Coins of Zeus include only three types of boosters – the Hold & Win feature, as well as Chests of Gold and Wilds.

Wilds

Wilds are regular Wilds in the game, dropping on the grid and substituting all other icons on the grid.  They do not replace Bonus symbols, though. Besides filing in for the winning combos on the grid, Wilds are also paying icons. They pay 10x for 3 OAK.

Chests of Gold

This is a random game feature in Coins of Zeus that gives players an increased chance of hitting the Hold & Win round.

In the base game, any Bonus or Zeus Bonus icon that lands gives players a chance to trigger the round. Chests of Gold help by placing additional random Bonus and Zeus Bonus icons on the grid to trigger the Hold & Win round.

Hold & Win

This is the game’s main feature. It starts with 3 Bonus symbols, where at least 1 should be a Zeus Bonus symbol.

At the start of the round, you get 3 Respins and a chance to spin the reels to catch Bonus, Zeus Bonus, prizes, and blanks.

If a Respin lands any type of icon, the counter resets to 3. If there’s a blank dud, then the counter goes down by 1.

The prizes that you can catch on the grid refer to the game’s four jackpots:

• Mini Jackpot: 25x the stake
• Minor Jackpot: 50x the stake
• Major Jackpot: 150x the stake
• Grand Jackpot: 1,000x the stake

The round ends when you run out of Respins.

Our Experience with Coins of Zeus

Oh, boy. Coins of Zeus is, if you look at it as an isolated game, a solid one. Not great, not terrible, it’s just what it is, which is a Greek slot.

However, if you are familiar with Betsoft’s other releases, there’s two things that you will immediately understand. First, it’s a Coins slot, so it belongs to the Coins slot series alongside Coins of Ra, Coins of Alkemor, Coins of Christmas, etc.

Second, it’s exactly the same as Coins of Christmas.

We weren’t too bothered by this second fact, but we did not like it, that’s for sure. The main reason is that the games are the same thing, which is never a good thing. However, they are not the same in theme, as one is a Greek and the other is a Christmas slot, but either way: how do you expect to appeal to customers if you offer copy and paste games just wrapped in different paper?

Because of this, we could not concentrate on the other elements of the game, and so there are only a few silver linings in the game for us.

We know that the game has a 3×3 grid with 5 paylines, 3,600x payouts and a highly volatile math model with 96.18% RTP, but that, to us, now sounds like just about any random online slot. So, not great but not terrible either.
