Here are the features used in Finn and the Dragon Tales. The game uses a couple of very exciting boosters.

Wild Feature

During the base game, a 3-symbol win without a Wild will place one 1x Wild in the center of the screen before the Avalanche. With a 4-symbol win, there’s a 2x Wild before the next Avalanche.

Dragon Feature

The Dragon Feature is triggered on 5+ symbol wins. The booster adds a Dragon symbol with an 1x, 2x, or 5x multiplier when there are 5, 6, or 7 symbols, respectively. Moreover, both the colour and the multiplier size of the feature depend on the length and the colour of the symbols that triggered the win. The feature transforms symbols into scatter wins in the end.

Random Wilds

As the name suggests, the feature is a random one. After a Scatter Win, a random number of Wilds (between 2 and 4) are added to the grid.  The Wilds may also sport random Multipliers (which can be in range of 2x, 3x, 5x, or 10x).

Free Spins

Free Spins are unlocked by a Key symbol. The key appears only in the base game, and in the bottom left corner.

However, the key must travel to one of the three zones after Avalanches to trigger the Spins. Here’s how that looks.

Key Symbol unlocks Free Spins Zones:

• Bronze Zone: 5 Spins + Green Dragon modifier
• Silver Zone: 8 Spins + Blue Dragon modifier
• Gold Zone: 10 Spins + Red Dragon modifier

The Dragon transforms symbols into scatter wins, and it also triggers Treasure Chest rewards.

Treasure Chest Rewards

There are four types of Chests, and they are opened in the following order.

• Multiplier Chest: Adds x1, x2, x5, or x10 to free spins multiplier.
• Cash Prize Chest: Awards 0.25x to 1x bet.
• Extra Free Spins Chest: Adds +3 Spins.
• Extra Dragon Chest: Adds more transforming Dragon symbols.

The chests are added at the end of the round.

Our Experience with Finn and the Dragon Tales

NetEnt’s Finn series has always been a unique experience. I mean, it’s legendary. But Finn and the Dragon Tales should bring even more excitement with its improved features.

The swirling mechanic used in the game remains fun, while the Free Spins mode adds layers of strategy and suspense.

While the max win of 3,828x isn’t the highest, the game offers steady wins with multipliers and treasure chests. So, there’s a balance, we found. Still, we are not that sure how exciting the game is to high rollers, because there’s not enough excitement for them to go with – the payouts are too low for that.

We do appreciate the focus on fun rather than profits. The Bonus Buy options are a good addition for those who prefer direct access to the action, but please be careful. Buy Bonus does not work in all markets and is generally something you should be very careful with.
