INTRODUCTION

Eyecon’s retro-style slot from 2016 is a relatively simple game for lovers of classic slot machines. As the name implies, it’s set in a fantasy world of wizards and unicorns. The White Wizard and his various magical items and tools are hand-drawn in a cartoony style that’s common in several Eyecon slots. The cutesy drawings and stripped-down UI remind us of this provider’s Fuffy Favorites series. The features and mechanics, though, are quite unique.

HOW TO PLAY

To play White Wizard slots, all you have to do is select a stake and hit spin. When selecting your stake, you get to choose the number of paylines you wish to “purchase” as well as the size of the coin per line. We don’t recommend ever going under 25 paylines – just use the coin size to adjust the total stake. This style of online slots is not as common as it once was, but there’s nothing complicated to worry about.

Once you hit spin, your goal is to arrange identical symbols along the 25 paylines. Winning combinations can only be made from left to right, starting with the first reel.

Beyond that, the UI to the right contains a customizable autoplay feature and the option to speed up animations.

At the “burger menu” on the top of the screen are a detailed help screen and audio settings. You can also flip the UI to the left of the grid, which is rather nice.

  • All payouts are calculated based on the coin’s size. As a result, common, low-paying results are relatively small and the volatility is higher than one would think.
  • A White Wizard winning strategy largely focuses on money management. You can’t affect the outcome of the spins.
  • Scatters/Free spins are incredibly impactful but don’t hit that often.

EXTRA FEATURES

The special White Wizard features are impactful and fun, but not all that creative by today’s standards. That said, figuring out how White Wizard works is rather intuitive. If you have any experience with online slots worth mentioning, you won’t have any trouble figuring it out.

The eponymous Wizard acts as a Wild (though the game insists on calling it a Substitute.) It can replace any other symbol to form winning lines except the Dragon. White Wizard symbols only appear on reels 1, 3, and 5. If a Wizard is part of a winning line, the payouts of that line are tripled. This means that White Wizard Wilds are rare but powerful.

The other special symbol is the smiley blue dragon acting as a Scatter. It pays a decent amount anywhere on the table, and you only need 2 for a win. 3, 4, or 5 will trigger White Wizard free spins – 15, 20, or 25 of them, respectively.

During Free Spins mode, Wizard symbols expand to cover the entire reel. The stake that you used to trigger the mode is used for all Free Spins. This mode can also be retriggered, but only up to a maximum of 15 times.

PAYOUTS

Eyecon’s White Wizard comes with a wide range of regular symbols which contribute to the game’s high variance rating.

The 9, 10, Jack, and Queen symbols can be called low-paying. They’re especially lacking for large, 5-symbol combinations.

King and Ace offer the same 5x coin payout for 3-symbol combinations. However, they dole out a lot more if you hit 4 or 5 of them.

The Wand, Unicorn, Spellbook, and Cauldron symbols can be described as high-paying. Interestingly, you only need two of these in a line to get a win. Two-symbol payouts are only 2x the coin size, though.

The Eyecon White Wizard maximum payout is achieved through 5 Cauldrons in a line, one of which is a Wild.

WHITE WIZARD (EYECON): CASINO CHICK’S VERDICT

While we’re glad to see Eyecon put out online slots for women, White Wizard is hardly cutting-edge. The game has many of the advantages and drawbacks of their Enchanted Prince title. In other words, it’s a bit old-fashioned and lacks any truly original special features.

Don’t get us wrong, though – there’s still plenty to like about White Wizard by Eyecon. While rather stripped-down, the graphics do have a hand-drawn kind of charm. And we know for a fact that there’s a large audience for such simple titles. This game casts a wide net in terms of who it appeals to, and it’s available at all the best Eyecon casinos.
